Championing Safety: BCSP Rebrands, Enhances Group Certification

Additional benefits added to renamed Certification Champions Program

February 9, 2023

Organizations in the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Certification Sponsorship program, as it was previously known, have long been champions of safety – championing safer workplaces and championing the growth of their employees.

Now, Champions is how they will be known.

BCSP has officially rebranded the program, updating the name to Certification Champions, and adding more benefits in the process. The label continues to apply to organizations with at least five (5) BCSP credentials linked to their company record and more clearly reflects their investment in and commitment to developing exceptional safety cultures.

“Organizations in our Certification Champions program demonstrate their emphasis on safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) practice,” said BCSP CEO Christy Uden, CAE, IOM. “From jobsites to C-suites, these organizations are investing in their workforce, utilizing BCSP credentials to build a strong safety culture. They are champions of safety, and we are proud to recognize their commitment.”

More than 100 organizations are currently classified as Certification Champions, recognized by tier—Sapphire (5-24 credentials), Ruby (25-49), Emerald (50-99), or Diamond (100+).

Champions earn digital badges and certificates, access to BCSP’s Group Management platform, Group Account Manager (GAM) toolkit, and workplace scholarships, and exposure through BCSP’s digital marketing efforts. Additional benefits increase by tier and include enhanced recognition on BCSP social media channels and BCSP-produced company profile videos.

BCSP offers 10 credential options, each uniquely designed for SH&E practitioners based on their responsibilities and experience. Through BCSP’s Group Management platform, GAMs can oversee their organization’s employees and pay for their certification applications, exams, and renewal fees.

“It’s one of those things that certainly improves the culture throughout the organization.” said Hank Botterman, CSP, GAM for The Walsh Group, a BCSP Diamond Champion. “That’s a very inexpensive investment throughout the organization to improve a culture which will ultimately have fewer injuries.”
