Exam Security: What Can You Share About Your Exam Experience?

Preparation for a BCSP exam takes dedication and hard work. After completing your exam, it’s natural to want to share your experience with your colleagues, friends, or other safety professionals preparing for their own certification journey.

But when it comes to discussing your exam experience, what is okay to share, and what is off-limits? Knowing the difference is an important part of protecting exam security and maintaining the integrity of BCSP certifications.

What Can You Share?

There’s plenty you can discuss about your certification journey without compromising exam security.

You CAN:

  • Recommend study resources. Did you find a particular book, course, or study strategy helpful? Feel free to share your recommendations with others preparing for their exams.
  • Describe your testing experience. You can talk about what it was like to visit the testing center, navigate the check-in process, prepare for exam day, and share other parts of your testing experience that do not include the exam content or references.
  • Share official exam resources. BCSP’s certification blueprints are available to all at BCSP.org. You can direct others to these resources to help with their preparation.

What Can't You Share?

While sharing your experience can help others, some information must remain confidential.

You CANNOT:

  • Disclose exam questions. Any form of sharing, describing, or reproducing questions you encountered on your exam is prohibited.
  • Discuss topics that appeared on your exam. Even without sharing exact questions, discussing the specific topics on your exam can give future test takers an unfair advantage.

These restrictions apply whether you’re chatting with a colleague, posting in an online study group, or sharing your experience on social media. BCSP’s exams are copyrighted, and sharing information about a BCSP exam violates both state and federal law.

BCSP takes all reports of candidate misconduct seriously and will seek action against individuals as appropriate. In the next blog covering exam security, we will discuss in-depth the dangers of unqualified individuals achieving certification through shared content knowledge.

Protecting the Value of Your BCSP Certification

Exam security is essential to ensuring every candidate has a fair opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. When exam content is confidential, BCSP certifications retain their credibility and value across the safety profession.

Remember: share your experience—not exam content. Every BCSP certification represents demonstrated knowledge, experience, and commitment to safety excellence. Exam security measures help ensure every credential holder earns their certification fairly, preserving the value of the certification and maintaining the trust placed in BCSP certificants.
