Board of Certified Safety Professionals May 6, 2015 12:00:00 AM
May 6 is Occupational Safety and Health Professional (OSHP) Day. The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) looks forward to OSHP Day as a day to celebrate the contributions of safety, health and environmental (SH&E) professionals.
Every day, safety professionals engage their coworkers in safe practices and ensure occupational hazards are eliminated from the workplace. Many are at the forefront, working with leadership to include safety in the very design of the sites where workers perform their duties. This activity is not always recognized, safety still being thought of primarily as the absence of workplace incidents. Safety is the absence of harm, but it is also much more. It is the safety professional’s knowledge and skills applied to the creation of a workplace where the very potential for harm is eliminated. Safety isn’t merely the absence of something, it is a creative process. Safety is built, and it is built by safety professionals.
This OSHP Day, join us in spreading this message and showing appreciation for the work of our amazing safety professionals!
