BCSP is Accepting Nominations for its Board of Directors

May 1, 2018

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) is actively seeking nominations from individuals who wish to be members of the BCSP Board of Directors.

Potential candidates for the Board must hold the CSP for at least five (5) years and be in good standing. In the election process, an over-riding goal for BCSP is to ensure that there is wide diversity from professionals in safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) practices for the governance of BCSP, based on geography, industry, areas of specialization, and other characteristics found in the profession. Holding additional certifications is strongly encouraged. Other qualifications include being free of potential conflicts of interest, ability to comply with the BCSP Fiduciary Policy, knowledge of the BCSP Bylaws, having at least five (5) years of senior leadership experience, and breadth of experience in the SH&E practice. BCSP Directors cannot participate in developing or conducting training courses specifically intended to prepare people for any of BCSP examinations. Directors typically devote an average of 2 to 4 hours per week to BCSP matters and attend semi-annual meetings to complete official BCSP business.

A one-page cover letter is required with all submissions. Within the letter, please address the following:

  • Why are you interested in serving on the Board?
  • Describe your previous experiences as a volunteer within any professional organization. What were some of the organizational achievements while you served?
  • Have you served in a senior management role? What skills do you bring that are needed in such a role for success?
  • Do you see any potential conflict of interest that could adversely affect your position on the board?

Please submit a resume and cover letter either by email to BoardNomination@bcsp.org or mail to BCSP, Attention: Nominating and Board Development Committee, 8645 Guion Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268 for the election process.
