Falls from elevation remain one of the leading causes of death in the construction industry. According to OSHA, falls accounted for 401 of the 1,061 recorded construction fatalities in 2019.
In an effort to prevent these injuries and deaths, BCSP has partnered with OSHA in support of the 8th annual National Safety Stand-Down To Prevent Falls in Construction campaign. The Stand-Down, taking place between May 3-7, is centered around employee safety awareness. We urge all employers to speak directly to their employees about the dangers of falls from elevation and to reinforce the importance of fall prevention methods.
Everyone is encouraged to join the campaign! More information, including helpful resources, events, highlights from previous stand-downs, etc. is located at OSHA.gov/stop-falls-stand-down, and you are encouraged to share your stand-down safety talk on social media using #StandDown4Safety.
These deaths and injuries are preventable! Join us in saving lives through this important campaign!
