General

Effective Date: March, 2019

• BCSP credential holders now have access to BCSP Digital Badges to share their credential(s), and the Credential Holder Directory allows users to view credential holders’ digital badge profiles for information on certification, designation, certificants’ accomplishments and specialties.

Effective Date: September 30, 2019

• The Certified Environmental, Safety & Health Trainer (CET) will be renamed to the Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT); All holding the CET, who are in CET Retired Status, or whose CET is inactive will hold or be considered to have held the CIT.

Eligibility/Application

Effective Date: May 23, 2019

• Application for the Certified Environmental, Safety & Health Trainer (CET) will no longer require a BCSP qualified credential and accept 135 hours of teaching, training, or development in any SH&E specialty. More details on this and other CET updates can be found online here.

Examination

Effective Date: September 30, 2019

• The Certified Environmental, Safety & Health Trainer (CET) exam, at this point the Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT) exam, will on this date be updated for all candidates. More information, including new blueprints and references, will be published before this date.

Recertification/Renewal

Effective Date: January 1, 2019

• Several credentials have been added to those granting recertification points, which can always be found in the Recertification Guide’s Category 10.

Effective Date: January 1, 2019

• Recertification requirements for a certification can no longer be met by retaking the certification’s exam.
• Certifications invalidated can no longer be reinstated by retaking the certification’s exam—If a person’s certification expires, they will not be able to reapply for that certification for one (1) year following its expiration.

Effective Date: July 23, 2019

• BCSP releases KSA Quest program containing 27 SH&E topic assessments 25 questions in length, each granting 0.25 recertification points when passed with a score of 80% or greater.

Effective Date: October 15, 2019

• Recertification cycle and worksheet due dates changed:
  • Certificants’ recertification cycles have been adjusted to run from July 1 to June 30 instead of from January 1 to December 31.
  • Recertification worksheets are now due on or before July 31 following the end of the recertification cycle.
