Military and Veterans Benefits

BCSP supports U.S. military members and is proud to assist veterans and service members in obtaining accredited safety and health certification, helping to increase their professional capacity and put them on a path to future civilian employment.

Helping our service members achieve their professional goals, whether they are to gain civilian employment or grow in their SH&E military job duties, is something we at BCSP are honored to support. We will continue to make every effort to ensure our certifications serve U.S. military service members, and that our strong relationship with the military community continues to grow.

Offers and Benefits

Are you a service member or veteran? We are glad to have you here!

BCSP safety certifications are recognized and highly regarded by the U.S. military. Our certifications have been mapped to 764 occupations across the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines Corps, and Department of Defense civil service. BCSP, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the Department of Defense (DoD) offer substantial benefits service members can utilize to achieve certification.

BCSP Benefits

Below are some of the benefits BCSP provides for you and your fellow service members:

DoD COOL Benefits

The Department of Defense’s Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL) program also offers support for achieving professional certifications. Each military service’s COOL program includes BCSP’s ANAB-accredited certifications. In fact, the ASP, CSP, and CHST are so popular among service members that they are listed by COOL as “In Demand.”

Links to each service’s COOL program, where service members can find more information and how to contact a representative for assistance, can be found in this page’s Resources section.

Army servicemembers may have access to additional funds through the Army Credentialing Assistance (CA) program. Assistance with the CA program can found through Army COOL or by contacting an Army CA program representative.

VA Benefits

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides education benefits to eligible service members, veterans, and certain dependents and survivors. Applicants may receive financial support for undergraduate and graduate degrees, vocational and technical training, licensing and certification tests, apprenticeships, on-the-job training, and more. Some of these programs may pay for BCSP certification exam fees and other training applicable to your career in safety and health.

Below are links and information that will help guide you through the application process:

Note: BCSP does not regulate funding for VA reimbursement and cannot guarantee individual eligibility.

Testimonials

“The Air Force COOL program was extremely easy to utilize and the funds were even easier to access. To apply, all I needed to do was upload a quick PowerPoint and call the AF COOL center. My ASP study materials and exam were paid for.”

— David Mace, U.S. Air Force

“Upon exiting Active Duty Air Force, I was worried that my resume wouldn’t reflect what I had accomplished in the preceding years as a Bioenvironmental Engineering Technician. I made a last-minute decision to look into AF COOL, and even with my rushed timeline and requests, everything went very smoothly! I was able to schedule my OHST examination and sit for my test all within my last month of Active Duty. I’m beyond thankful to have a certification that reflects what I learned while serving our great nation and also gives my next employer some insight to what my capabilities are.”

— Kiana Platte, OHST
