Government and University Faculty Benefits
BCSP offers application fee waivers and other benefits to government employees and university faculty to thank them for their service and dedication to their communities.
If you are employed at any level of the government within the U.S. (federal, state, or local), including state universities and colleges, BCSP waives certifications’ application fees.
When you apply for certification, you will be asked to upload a current employment letter on organizational letterhead, signed by your employer.

If you teach a safety or safety-related courses at a college or university (including those not in the U.S.) you may qualify for a waiver of BCSP certifications’ application fees.
To qualify, the academic program for which you teach must be accredited by the U.S. Department of Education, Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or hold an equivalent accreditation for non-U.S. colleges and universities.
When you apply for certification, you will be asked for verification of your teaching assignment with information on course(s), instructional responsibility, and semester/term from department officials.
Application fee waivers are available for the CSP, SMS, ASP, OHST, CHST, STS, STSC, and CIT. They must be applied during the application process prior to checkout—Fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.
