Advocating for Safety

BCSP wants to ensure that when lawmakers make decisions that affect safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) practice-and, by extension, safety practitioners-they are doing so with the most accurate, up-to-date information about the safety profession. BCSP's focus in government affairs is to ensure that the interests of certified safety professionals and practitioners are consistently and accurately represented in relevant legislation and regulations.

BCSP engages in advocacy activities that include outreach, education and awareness-raising around legislation, ordinances and/or regulations at all levels of government (federal, state, and local). These activities may be initiated and led by BCSP or conducted in coordination with BCSP sponsoring organizations and certificants.

Investigate, Communicate, Advocate

BCSP tracks legislation and regulations related to SH&E practice and encourages you to become knowledgeable of relevant bills and rules, conveniently shared through the StateNet iTrac system. If you are interested in a specific bill, or know of legislation or policies that may be of interest to BCSP, please contact our Government Affairs and International Outreach Manager, Erica Poff.

BCSP does not participate directly or indirectly, or intervene, in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office. BCSP does not provide contributions to political campaign funds or public statements of position (verbal or written) in favor of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.
