Endorsing Organizations
Affiliated endorsing organizations nominate individuals to serve on the BCSP Board of Directors. These organizations do not provide funding or support to BCSP or its operations. They do provide their members with a variety of member services, including journals, conferences, continuing education courses, books, and many other valuable services for safety professionals.
The current affiliated endorsing organizations are listed below along with the year in which they began their participation with BCSP. You can link to each web site by selecting an organization from the list.
Industry Partnerships
BCSP and partners utilize technology to disseminate information on management systems, best practices, and career opportunities in safety and health. They provide support for students to enter safety and health academic programs, encourage organizations’ use of certification, participate in events where safety and health are addressed, and facilitate the transfer of relevant occupational safety and health research findings to the body of knowledge of safety and health professionals.
These initiatives are among those contained in formal agreements between BCSP and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) (PDF), Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) (PDF), the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC of A) (PDF), IMPACT (PDF), the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) (PDF), and the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association (VPPPA) (PDF).
As part of the partnership between BCSP and the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers, Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT), representing the Iron Workers and contractors based in Canada and the United States, iron workers may pursue BCSP’s Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) certification through IMPACT's support program for BCSP's STSC certification.
As part of BCSP’s partnership with AGC, the organizations provide an outline of the elements of an exemplary safety program as part of the Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) Safety Management Best Practices.
Government Partnerships
BCSP and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) established a partnership in 2012, signing a formal BCSP-NIOSH Agreement with the goal of improving occupational safety and health at workplaces throughout the United States. BCSP and NIOSH utilize expertise in effective prevention strategies and technology as part of this collaborative effort. The partnership also encourages students to pursue safety as a career and advances their competency in that field.
BCSP partnered with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as part of the OSHA Alliance in 2018. Through the Alliance, OSHA and BCSP work to provide BCSP certification holders and others with information, guidance, and access to resources that will help them protect the health and safety of workers and understand the rights of workers and the responsibilities of employers under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act).
