Kuwait Oil Company Encourages Certification Amongst SH&E ProfessionalsOn October 22, 2019, the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) organized a technical seminar popularly known as “Tuesday Talk” to promote the importance and value of professional SH&E certifications amongst its employees.  Sanjay Jaiswal, CSP, SMS, CIT and Bala Siva Srikanth Adivi CSP, CFIOSH spoke on behalf of the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) during the seminar, delivering a presentation on “HSE Excellence Through Competency Enhancement: An Insight Into BCSP Certifications.”

Through the session, Jaiswal and Adivi conveyed and underscored the importance of BCSP certifications. They highlighted the importance of achieving a world-class professional certification and the benefits it provides to individuals as well as to the organization itself.

The presentation covered the importance of BCSP’s Associate Safety Professional® (ASP®) and Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®) certifications, as well as the eight additional BCSP credentials available to safety professionals who may not possess the qualifications needed for the ASP or CSP. Among those highlighted were the Graduate Safety Practitioner® (GSP®) and the Transitional Safety Practitioner (TSP) designations. The TSP is available to individuals who complete an academic or SH&E program that meets BCSP Qualified Equivalent Program (QEP) standards. They discussed the benefits of the TSP designation and spoke about the programs that are currently on the QEP list, making their students potentially eligible for the TSP. The TSP designation is an alternate path to the CSP, waiving the requirement of needing a BCSP qualified credential when applying for the CSP.

At the close of the presentation, Jaiswal and Adivi answered audience questions related to eligibility, the application process, examinations, and a wide range of topics including the certifications’ acceptability by various organizations. The positive responses to the session are a true reflection of highly interactive presentation, which was attended by around 70-80 personnel. Both speakers were presented with a certificate of appreciation by KOC officials.
