The CSP and ASP are accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the primary source for internationally recognized standards in U.S. based professional practice. The CSP was the first certification in safety, health, environment, and ergonomics accredited by this national organization which evaluates certification programs. The certifications are accredited through the ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 standards for personnel certification programs, and can be found on ANSI's database by their 0646 identification number.
National accreditation has become the yardstick for acceptance of a certification by many federal, state, and local agencies. Accreditation standards cover fairness in testing, audited financial disclosure, independence in governance, validated examination content, non-discrimination of candidates, and many other criteria.
BCSP's CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, STS, and STSC certification programs are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
The CET is accredited through the Council of Engineering & Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB).
Veterans Affairs Reimbursement
Beginning in March 2001, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) established rules by which certifications and licenses could qualify for VA reimbursement. All examinations leading to BCSP credentials are approved by the VA for reimbursement of examination fees for qualifying active duty and reserve component military and veterans. Individuals who qualify for the VA reimbursement program can have their examination fees paid by the VA by listing the specific, qualifying license or certification they are seeking in their application for reimbursement to the VA.
