Accreditation and Recognition
National and International Accreditation
National accreditation has become the yardstick for acceptance of a certification by many federal, state, and local agencies. Accreditation standards cover fairness in testing, audited financial disclosure, independence in governance, validated examination content, non-discrimination of candidates, and many other criteria.
BCSP is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (www.credentialingexcellence.org). The CSP was the first certification in safety, health, environment, and ergonomics accredited by this national organization which evaluates peer-operated certifications. The CSP is also recognized by the National Skill Standards Board (www.nssb.org).
Veterans Affairs Reimbursement
Beginning in March 2001, the Department of Veterans Affairs
(VA) established rules by which certifications and licenses could
qualify for VA reimbursement. The examinations leading to the CSP credential were approved in 2002 by
the VA for reimbursement of examination
fees for qualifying active duty and reserve component military and
veterans. Individuals who qualify for the VA
program can apply for reimbursement for the fees associated with achieving licenses and
certifications.
